Common questions
Where should I put the phone?
Somewhere everyone can hear it, out of the way of dancing feet: a shelf, a table or the arm of the sofa. Every command is read out loud, so you rarely need to look at the screen.
I can't hear the game-master voice or the music.
Turn the volume up with the side buttons. Romparoo plays even when the ring/silent switch is on silent. Check that Game-master voice is on in Settings (the sliders button on the home screen). If you are using Bluetooth headphones or a speaker, the sound goes there.
Which age should I pick?
Pick the age of the youngest player. Every game tunes its pace and content to them, so nobody gets left behind. Older kids can still have fun at a younger setting; they love being the one who never gets caught.
Why does Sleeping Lions ask for the microphone?
So the phone can hear when someone giggles or wriggles and wake the lion. It only measures how loud the room is while the game runs; nothing is recorded or saved. If you said no, a grown-up taps the lion instead. To change your answer, open iPhone Settings → Romparoo → Microphone.
Does the screen turn off during a game?
No. Romparoo keeps the screen awake while a game is running, and pauses the game if you switch to another app or lock the phone. Tap Keep playing to carry on.
How do I end a game?
Tap ✕ in the top corner. Romparoo pauses and shows a little celebration first, so a stray tap from a small hand doesn't end the game. Tap All done to finish or Oops, keep playing to carry on.
Do I need the internet?
No. Romparoo works fully offline. It has no account, no ads and no in-app purchases.
Can we play without the phone?
Yes. Every game's briefing page ends with No phone? No problem, a version you can play with nothing at all.
