🔍 How to play Colour Hunt with kids
A quick indoor scavenger hunt: hear the mission, find something that matches, bring it back before the whistle.
Ages 2+ · Players 1 or more · Time 10–20 minutes · You need a home full of stuff
Rules
- Everyone gathers in one spot.
- Listen for the mission, like "find something red!"
- Race to find it and bring it back before the whistle.
- Show-and-tell: everyone shows what they found. Then put things back.
Make it fit the youngest player
- Ages 2–4: Just colours. In the app the whole screen turns that colour to help.
- Ages 5–7: Colours plus things like "something soft" or "something round".
- Ages 8–10: Tricky ones like "something older than you" or "something that floats".
Nobody is ever out: a mistake becomes a wiggle or a giggle, so the littlest player keeps playing.
No phone? No problem
Call out a colour and count to 30 out loud. The counter can't peek where everyone goes.
Or let the phone run it
Romparoo gives the mission, runs the clock with hurry-up music and whistles everyone back for show-and-tell. Colour Hunt is one of nine games in Romparoo, a free iPhone app with no ads, no accounts and no tracking. It is coming soon to the App Store.
Play safely
Clear the floor, keep cushions low and never climb on furniture. A grown-up should always be around when little ones play.
