Common questions

"Snap a meal" says my iPhone can't suggest foods

Photo suggestions use Apple Intelligence, which needs a supported iPhone (iPhone 15 Pro or later), Apple Intelligence turned on in Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri, and iOS 27. Right after turning it on, the model can take a while to download. Until then, tap Search foods: everything else in Mealmark works on every iPhone.

The suggestions are wrong

They can be: a photo doesn't show what's inside a dish or how much it weighs. Tap a food to change its grams or choose It's a different food, swipe to remove it, or tap Add a food. Nothing is saved until you tap Save. Photos with the whole plate in view and good light work best.

Where do the calories come from?

From USDA FoodData Central, the US Department of Agriculture's food composition database. The values are averages, so packaged foods and recipes differ; for a packaged food, Quick add the calories from its label. Settings > Sources lists every source with a link.

Why can't I set a target below 1,200 kcal?

NICE, the UK's health guidance body, advises diets of 800 to 1,200 kcal a day only within a specialist weight management service. Mealmark follows that. Ask a doctor or dietitian what is right for you.

What is free?

Up to three meals a day, typed in or searched, and the last seven days of history. Adding more food to a meal you already logged today is always free. Mealmark Plus adds photo suggestions, every meal, 30- and 90-day history and the widget.

How do I change a meal?

Tap it on the Today screen (or in History, tap the day). Change foods, grams, the meal or the time, or delete it.

How do I change the app's language?

Mealmark follows your iPhone's language. In the app, open Settings > Language to jump to the iPhone settings page for Mealmark. If you don't see Language there, add a second language under General > Language & Region first. Foods from the full USDA list keep their English names.

How do I cancel the subscription?

In Settings > Apple Account > Subscriptions on your iPhone. You keep Plus until the end of the period you paid for.
