Privacy policy

Rotebird is a flashcard app for iPhone made by Reba Labs ("we"). This policy explains what happens to the information you put into Rotebird. The short version: it stays on your iPhone, and we never receive it.
What Rotebird stores
- your decks and cards, including cards you write, cards you keep from suggestions and cards you import;
- your review history: when you reviewed a card and which button you pressed, used for scheduling, streaks and insights;
- your settings, such as new cards per day.
All of this is stored only on your iPhone, inside Rotebird's own storage. The widget reads a small summary (cards due, streak, reviews today) from a storage area shared only between the app and its widget.
Photos, PDFs and text you use to make cards
When you scan a page, pick photos, open a PDF or paste text, Rotebird reads the text with Apple's on-device text recognition. Card suggestions come from Apple's on-device language model (Apple Intelligence's Foundation Models framework), which runs on your iPhone. Your photos, PDFs and text are not sent to us or to anyone else, and Rotebird does not keep the photos or files; it keeps only the cards you choose to save. The camera is used only while you scan, after you allow it.
What we collect
Nothing. Rotebird has no account, no servers, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party SDKs. Apart from the App Store's own purchase system, the app makes no network requests. We cannot see, access or recover anything you enter. The App Store privacy label for Rotebird is "Data Not Collected".
Purchases
Rotebird Plus is sold through the App Store. Apple handles the payment; we receive no payment details. The app asks the App Store whether you have an active purchase so it can unlock Plus.
Imported files
When you import a deck (.apkg or CSV), Rotebird reads the file you picked on your iPhone and adds its cards. The file is not uploaded anywhere.
Backups
Like other app data, Rotebird's data can be included in your iPhone backups (iCloud Backup or a backup to your computer) if you have them turned on. Those backups are handled by Apple under your Apple Account settings and Apple's privacy policy. We have no access to them.
Data Apple shares with developers
If you choose to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone settings, Apple may send us anonymous crash reports and usage statistics, such as how many people installed the app. These contain no information you entered into Rotebird. When you test a beta through TestFlight, any feedback or screenshots you send through TestFlight reach us.
Children
Rotebird does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children.
Deleting your data
Delete a card by touching and holding it in its deck; delete a deck from its menu. Deleting the app removes everything it stored on your iPhone.
Your rights
Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct, export or delete on our side. If you have any question about privacy, write to privacy@reba-labs.com.
Changes
If Rotebird ever starts handling data differently, we will update this policy before that version is released and change the date above.
