Getting started
- On the TV, open the web browser and go to couchfire.reba-labs.com/tv. A laptop connected to the TV with HDMI works just as well.
- Everyone points their phone camera at the QR code on the TV, or opens couchfire.reba-labs.com and types the four-letter code.
- The first player to join is the VIP 👑. The VIP picks the games, the timers, and can skip ahead or end a game from the ⋮ menu.
Common questions
Which TVs work?
Any TV whose web browser is reasonably up to date: Samsung, LG, Google TV and Android TV, Fire TV, and most others. If your TV's browser struggles, use a laptop on HDMI, or a tablet propped up for a small group. If you have a Chromecast, the "Cast to TV" button in Chrome on Android sends the game straight to it.
Does everyone need the app?
No. Phones join in the web browser, and nothing needs to be installed. The iPhone app is there if you prefer it.
Someone's phone locked or lost Wi-Fi. Are they out?
No. Open Couchfire again on the same phone and it drops you back into your seat with your score. Scanning the QR code again works too.
We're only two. Can we play?
Yes. Bluff Buffet, Same Brain, Mind Dial and Brain Rush are designed to work with two. Punchline Duel and Doodle Dupe need three or more.
The timers are too fast for the kids.
When the VIP starts a game, choose ×1.5, ×2, or Off. With timers off, each step waits until everyone has answered, and the VIP can skip ahead.
There's no sound on the TV.
Browsers keep sound off until someone interacts with the page. Click the TV page once, or press OK on the remote, while the lobby is showing. The VIP can mute or unmute the TV any time with the speaker icon at the top of their phone.
How many people can play?
Up to 12 players in a room. Bluff Buffet, Punchline Duel and Doodle Dupe take up to 10.
How do I remove someone?
In the lobby, the VIP sees everyone under Players and can tap Remove. Players who simply leave disappear from the lobby on their own after a short while.
Is anything saved?
No. Rooms live only while you're playing and are deleted 20 minutes after everyone leaves. See the privacy policy.
