Couchfire

Privacy policy

Last updated: 19 October 2026

Couchfire is a party game made by Reba Labs ("we"). You play it in a web browser at couchfire.reba-labs.com or in the Couchfire app. This policy explains what happens to the information you use while playing. The short version: there are no accounts, no ads and no tracking, and a game is forgotten when its room closes.

What you send while playing

To play, your phone sends our game server:

  • the name you type (up to 12 characters; a nickname is fine) and the character you pick;
  • what you do in the games: answers, lies, clues, titles, votes and drawings.

The server needs these to run the game and show them on the TV and the other players' phones. They are kept only in the server's memory for as long as the room exists. A room is deleted 20 minutes after everyone has left, and every room is deleted whenever the server restarts. We do not write game content to disk, keep logs of it, or use it for anything else.

Anyone in the same room can see your name, character and what you submit, because that is how the games work. Please don't type anything you wouldn't say out loud at the party.

What stays on your device

Your phone or browser remembers your name, your character and a private rejoin token for each room you joined, so you can get back into your seat after a refresh or a dropped connection. The TV remembers the code of the room it is hosting. This is stored in your browser's storage or the app's storage, and never sent to anyone except our game server when you rejoin. Clearing your browser data or deleting the app removes it.

What we don't do

No accounts, no email addresses, no advertising, no analytics, no tracking cookies, and no selling or sharing of data. Couchfire contains no third-party analytics or advertising code.

Other services involved

  • Hosting. The game server runs on a server we rent from Hetzner Online in the EU. Connections are encrypted (HTTPS and secure WebSockets). Like any web server, it briefly sees your IP address to send you data; we do not store it.
  • Emoji font (web version). To draw emoji, the web version downloads a font from Google Fonts (fonts.gstatic.com). Google receives your IP address and browser details for that request, under Google's privacy policy.
  • Chromecast. If you use "Cast to TV" in Chrome, Google's Cast software in your browser and on your Chromecast connects the two devices, under Google's terms. We only pass the room code between them.
  • Apple. If you install the iPhone app and have chosen to share analytics with app developers, Apple may send us anonymous crash reports and install statistics. These contain nothing you typed or drew.

Children

Couchfire's games are written for all ages and played together in the same room. We don't ask for real names, ages or contact details, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children. Games are not stored after the room closes.

Your rights

Because we hold no personal data about you after a room closes, there is usually nothing for us to access, correct, export or delete. If you have a question about privacy, write to privacy@reba-labs.com.

Changes

If Couchfire ever starts handling data differently, for example to save game highlights, we will update this policy before that version goes live and change the date above.
