Hummoth

Privacy policy

Last updated: 24 October 2026

Hummoth is a sleep tracker for iPhone that works from sound, made by Reba Labs ("we"). It listens through your iPhone's microphone while you sleep. This policy explains what happens to that sound and to what you enter. The short version: it stays on your iPhone, and we never receive it.

The microphone

Hummoth uses the microphone only after you tap Start listening, and only until you say good morning (or after 14 hours at most). While it listens, iOS shows the microphone indicator. The sound is analysed on your iPhone with Apple's built-in sound recognition (the SoundAnalysis framework) to notice snoring, speech, coughs and other loud sounds. That analysis happens on the device; no sound is sent to us, to Apple or to anyone else.

What Hummoth stores

  • short audio clips (up to 30 seconds) around the sounds it noticed; all other sound is discarded as it is analysed and never saved;
  • for each night: when you started and stopped, the moments it found (time, length, kind, how loud compared with the room) and a loudness line for the night picture;
  • tags and notes you add to a night, and your settings.

All of this is stored only on your iPhone, inside Hummoth's own storage. You choose in Settings how long clips are kept (1 week, 1 month, 3 months or forever).

What we collect

Nothing. Hummoth has no account, no servers, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party SDKs. Apart from the App Store's own purchase system, the app makes no network requests. We cannot see, hear, access or recover anything it records. The App Store privacy label for Hummoth is "Data Not Collected".

Sharing a clip

With Hummoth Plus you can share a clip through the iPhone's share sheet. It goes only where you send it (for example to your own Files or to a message you write), under that app's or service's terms.

Purchases

Hummoth Plus is sold through the App Store. Apple handles the payment; we receive no payment details. The app asks the App Store whether you have an active purchase so it can unlock Plus.

Backups

Like other app data, Hummoth's nights and clips can be included in your iPhone backups (iCloud Backup or a backup to your computer) if you have them turned on. Those backups are handled by Apple under your Apple Account settings and Apple's privacy policy. We have no access to them.

Data Apple shares with developers

If you choose to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone settings, Apple may send us anonymous crash reports and usage statistics, such as how many people installed the app. These contain no sound and nothing you entered into Hummoth. When you test a beta through TestFlight, any feedback or screenshots you send through TestFlight reach us.

Other people in the room

Hummoth can hear anyone near the phone. Please tell the people you share a room with that you use it.

Children

Hummoth is not meant for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from anyone.

Deleting your data

Delete a night (with its clips) from the … menu of its report, or every night in Settings > Delete all nights. Deleting the app removes everything it stored on your iPhone.

Your rights

Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct, export or delete on our side. If you have any question about privacy, write to privacy@reba-labs.com.

Changes

If Hummoth ever starts handling data differently, we will update this policy before that version is released and change the date above.
